About Dr. Mark Turner
Dr Mark Turner is a hardworking and caring Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Clinical Psychologist at St John’s Institute of Dermatology, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. He dedicates his NHS direct clinical care and private professional services to specialist psychology appointments for patients with hair and skin conditions and other reasons for attending dermatology.
He is accredited with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Re- Processing (EMDR). He is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society and the psychologist on the medical advisory board for the National Eczema Society.
After achieving a first-class with honours BSc degree and master’s degree with distinction he completed his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry Psychology and
Neuroscience, King’s College London, in 2012. Dr Mark Turner then pioneered .
In 2016 he was part of the Psoriasis and Eczema Service that was awarded the British Medical Journal Dermatology Team of the year. In 2023 he was integral to dermatology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ receiving an award for outstanding person-centred care from the King’s Health Partners funded initiative named Integrating Mental and Physical healthcare: Research Training and Services.
Dr Mark Turner provides supervision to other psychologists and psychologically informed staff training to nursing and medical staff in dermatology. He has psychodermatology lecturing duties and co-supervises research for postgraduate university programmes. He has given presentations both nationally and internationally and publishes in peer-reviewed journals.
